Our Story

Born in the City of Golden Friendship

In 2016, after years of experimenting with other cuisines, our family found the concept that finally felt like home: the heritage dishes of Mindanao itself. Cucina Higala opened its doors in Cagayan de Oro with twenty-five dishes gathered from across the island — from Camiguin's Surol to Lanao del Norte's Beef Rendang — served in a space that feels like an old Spanish home filled with friends.

Diners came, and kept coming. Working with local farmers, producers, and artisans, the kitchen reimagines traditional recipes with modern technique while honoring the region's finest ingredients. The restaurant earned recognition as one of Cagayan de Oro's most loved dining destinations, and the concept grew: a mountain-side continental restaurant in Bukidnon, and a catering arm that brings the same table to weddings, gatherings, and milestones across the region.

Today, the Higala Group is three years into a ten-year vision — ten restaurants in ten years — carried by one belief: food is how Mindanao welcomes you.
